ELECTRICITY
Voltage: 220 volts at a frequency of 50 Hertz (as in the rest of Europe). For comparison, in the US, it is 110 volts at a frequency of 60 Hertz. All sockets follow European standards and are different to the sockets in the US. To use American-type plugs, a 220-volt transformer should be used together with an adapter plug. Regardless of voltage, if your appliance has flat prongs, you will need a plug adapter as Italian sockets are designed for round prongs.
